Stop Hurting!

Let us stop doing harm.
Stop hurting ourselves.
Stop hurting others.
Stop hurting all life.

When we are respectful of ourselves, we will respect other people.
When we respect ourselves, we will respect children and elders.
When we respect ourselves, we will be respectful of our planet.
When we learn to be respectful, we will respect our jobs, leaders, religions, cultures and environment.

As long as we do harm, we will be afraid of being harmed.
As long as we attack, we will fear being attacked.
As long as we kill and destroy, we will defend against being destroyed.
We cannot be at peace, until we stop war.

When we end violence, our children will not learn to be violent.
When we stop hurting people and animals, we will not teach our children to hurt themselves and others.
When we find better ways to rehabilitate and educate, we can change our worlds’ violent ways.
When we learn to stop our own hurtful thoughts, words and deeds, we will clear our fear.

We have bought and sold, learned and taught, to stop harm, we must inflict harm.
We have used pain and punishment for so long, we actually believe in the need for pain and punishment.
We have looked for immediate ways to end what we fear, but forsaken the long term goals of peace.
We have created a world of defensiveness in order to protect against the potential of being violated.

It seems there are few voices encouraging “non violent” language, behavior and media.
It seems we inbuilt structures teaching only the value of punishment instead of the value of Kindness.
It seems kindness is seen as weak, impotent and even crazy and useless.
Perhaps we need to ask ourselves again, “What would I want?” if I were in the same position.

I want to be helped.
What do you want?
I want to be taught.
What do you want?
I want to find a better way.
What do you want?
I want to be treated with respect and kindness.
What do you want?
I want someone to see me as important.
What do you want?
I want gentleness.
What do you want?
I want to be heard.
What do you want?
I want to be protected.
What do you want?
I want to spoken with dignity and respect.
What do you want?
I want to be appreciated.
What do you want?
I want to be invited to change.
What do you want?

I want all of us to stand up and teach harmlessness by our example.
I want you and I to live lives of peaceful thoughts, words and behavior.
I want us to be willing to find healthier, more kind and gentle ways.
I want us to learn to forgive ourselves and our society teaching and living hurtful and harmful ways.

I choose to do no harm to myself, to you, to others, to children, to animals, to our environment.
I choose to offer peace and Good will to all.
I choose to remember always the value of love, respect and kindness.
I choose to teach Love, live in Love and love myself and all in every thought, word and deed.

Loving you,
Betty Lue

PRAYER SONG
May all Beings walk in Beauty.
May all Beings live with Grace.
May all Beings share their Wisdom.
May all Beings give with Faith.

May all Beings hear their message.
May all Being teach with respect.
May all Beings learn their teaching.
May all Beings forgive to resurrect.

May we all remember our own Heart Song.
May we all remember to be true.
May we all remember to give with humility.
May we all remember You are Me and I Am You.

You Are A Flower in the Garden of Life

If you would grow to be your best self
Be patient, not demanding
Accepting, not condemning
Nurturing, not withholding
Self-marveling, not belittling
Gently guiding, not pushing & punishing

For you are more sensitive than you know
Mankind is tough as war
Yet delicate as flowers
We can endure agonies
But we open fully only to warmth & light
And our need to grow is fragile as a fragrance
Dispersed by storms of will
To return only when those storms are still

So accept, respect,
Attend your sensitivity

A flower
Cannot be opened
With a hammer
