Change the Channel

When you don’t like what you are hearing or seeing, feeling or thinking, change the channel!
When we judge or become afraid or angry, we get stuck right where we are.
When we are judging, we lose our flexibility and creativity and forget we can choose again.
When we are stuck obsessing or perseverating on what is wrong, we fail to seek what is right.

Change the channel can mean, to simply change the voice I am listening to in my own mind.
Change the channel can mean to step away from situations that are negative or disempowering.
Change the channel can literally suggest to turn off violent and offensive programs and media.
Change the channel can teach us to stop listening to and reading what does not resonate with our Truth.

How often we have learned to pay attention to everything and everyone.
How many times have we been admonished to not bury our head in the sand.
How judging are we when someone avoids confrontation and disagreements.
How foolish do we feel when we leave the room to avoid unpleasant conversations.

It is time to stop the madness.
Step away from gossip.
Ignore insane behavior and focus on what is Kind.
Suspend reading trash talk or violent stories.

Children often have nightmares after they see violence or hear scary stories.
This can be a clue that we too must stop filling our minds which what scares us.
Consider not watching, reading or listening to stories of darkness and danger.
Consider changing your mind about situations that you have been judging.
Consider stepping away from fights and angry confrontations.
Consider not participating in negative talk about anyone.
Consider learning to change what you are saying, when it does not feel helpful.
Consider breathing through your judgments, until you find something kind to say.
Consider giving yourself a break from TV shows that depress you.
Consider looking for only those interactions and activities that inspire and energize you.
Consider loving yourself really well with all things good and healthy and helpful.

You deserve to change the channels in your life to find and live a better  and blessed way.
Loving you,

Betty Lue
