Distraction or Contribution?

This may be an enlightening question to ask oneself.
Am I contributing to my world with my thoughts, words and activities?
Or am I distracting myself with my thoughts, words and activities?
Life can be a source of  inspiration or feeding oneself with temporary diversions.

I am the one who chooses how I use my time, my mind, my body and my spirit.
When life is focused on what is intended to be Good for others, it will always be good for me.
When life has no focus or intention, it may follow the path of conformity and ordinariness.
When life is used to build, create or succeed, the focus will be on fulfillment of the goal.

Here on sabbatical in Hawaii this week,  I had three distinct goals or intentions:
1)    To create a time of “innocentizing” or release of the past to be renewed in body and Spirit.
2)    To complete the editing of at least one of the four books to be published this Spring.
3)    To vision the next 5-10 years for Robert and myself with focus on balance and contribution.
To fulfill these goals, they needed to be stated, honored and agreed to by all parts of me.

While the goals are in process and will continue, just as life does, we have also made additional choices.
We bought organic fruits and vegetables and prepared yummy meals, good for the planet and the body.
We have visited our favorite places and people to say “aloha” and to connect with them face to face.
We spent time at spiritual centers and sacred sites to give and receive blessings from the people and the land.
We continue to do our own sacred “work”, as it is our calling and reason for being.
We enjoy the wind, the skies, the seas, the flowers, the smiles, the fertile earth and her bounty.
We love ourselves and one another as well as each one we meet with the Aloha Spirit.

These all are contributions to ourselves, to others and to the planet.
These are gifts we give and receive acknowledging our gratitude for life.
These are blessings which expand with our appreciation.
These are loving reminders to ourselves and our sisters and brothers to live life wisely and well.

The distractions could easily be eating foods not beneficial to us or staying up late.
Distractions can be judging the people, the places, our bodies and thinking too much.
We can create diversions like finding the right and perfect restaurant or parking place.
We can amuse ourselves with site-seeing, spending money shopping or watching TV.

Distractions may have their place in time.
They can be enjoyed when we are not feeling guilt or self judgment.
The empty calories in life come in the form of anything that does not inspire and sustain us.
We have the opportunity to forgive and choose again and yet again.

When we remember to forgive all judgments, every moment is healing and revealing.
When we reclaim our innocence and simply choose what feels “right and true”, we feel good.
When we judge nothing and listen within for the highest and best answer, we are guided well.
When we live in the moment giving and receiving all Good, we know all is provided for our Good.

Vacations can be made healing and sacred.
Simply choose for what is good for all.
Receiving your blessings and returning them to you with joy,
I am loving you and me and all of us as one,
Betty Lue
