Giving and Receiving

Some give to get something in return.
Some give for the joy of giving.
Some look forward to receiving presents.
Some look forward to being Present.

Observe how you feel about others receiving.
Do you enjoy their experience with them?
Do you covet what they are getting?
Do you wish someone would give to you?
Watch how you feel about the exchange of gifts.
Do you appreciate the joy that is shared?
Do you value the delight on everyone’s face?
Are you comparing the value of each gift?

Pay attention to your own concern about how your gifts will be received.
Are you happy with what you are giving?
Are you looking to get a big appreciation from the receivers?
Do you receive joy from the giving or need to get a certain reaction from the recipient?

Giving gifts is one way of sharing love and appreciation.
Giving gifts is only one way of spreading Christmas Joy.
Look at what it would feel like to give all gifts anonymously.
Consider being the secret Santa at Christmas and enjoying the giving.

And when it comes to receiving……..
Receive the Love of the One who is the Give.
Acknowledge the thought behind the gift.
Enjoy the exchange of gratitude between giver and receiver.

Everything we do is teaching everyone everywhere.
When we remember to buy, make, write or share our gifts  with kindness, we are giving our kindness.
When we receive the words, smiles, hugs, cookies, gifts, songs and cards of others with full appreciation, we are giving gratitude to one and all.
When we allow ourselves the luxury and pleasure of writing our thank you notes, we will be inspired by the feelings and words we share.

It is time for us all to heal, to forgive, to love, to extend peace, to enjoy.
When we can forgive the past and heal, we can love and give peace and joy to others.
When we honestly give for the joy of sharing our love, everyone benefits.
This is the year to give and receive everything for the Love of Loving.

Loving you,
Betty Lue
